Essence Gel Eyeliner

Gel eyeliners are a favourite amongst makeup artist because it
can create dramatic eyes by layering the gel to enhance a smudged look or smokey eye effect. Essence has a fabulous gel eyeliner range that comes in cute little glass pots. They are available in four colours (black, green, purple and brown). I have the purple one called Berlin Rocks.

I am a pro when it comes to applying my eyeliner with a pencil. No mirror required! I do not like liquid eyeliners because I always tend to smudge it and my right eye line is never the same width as my left. In steps gel eyeliner. Easy to apply like the pencil yet flexible to create different looks that a liquid eyeliner can do and a pencil can't.

When applying gel eyeliner you will always need a eye makeup brush. I prefer using my angled eye brush because it is sturdy enough to control the line I want to make. Essence has a great one in blue. The gel is soft and mushy in the jar. Feels like you are back in grade1 messing in art class. LOVE IT!

I dip my eyeliner brush lightly into the pot and swivel it to get just enough gel on it then slowly glide the brush just above my lash line. Be careful to not let the gel hit your eyelashes because it hardens your lashes and it will be difficult to apply mascara afterwards.

The great thing about gel eyeliner is that you can keep layering depending on the desired effect you want. You can go as big as you like. The gel hardens quickly and lasts all day. It is really difficult to remove the gel if you made a mistake so be sure to glide the brush slowly on your eyelid.

Gel eyeliners takes quite a long time to apply because you need to be precise and build up your look. Once you apply mascara the effects are amazing. I have big brown eyes and this made my eyes look super flashy. Like Hollywood red carpet flashy. I would only wear this to a party, big event or on a evening out to give my eyes a sultry look.

This is a really great gel eyeliner at an affordable price. If you love creating dramatic eyes this one is for you!
